Planning & Development is the coordination of all development within the City of Navasota and ETJ (extraterritorial jurisdiction or 1 mile outside City limits). Our goal is to provide a simple and streamlined development application process on various project types. Our responsibilities include maintaining the Comprehensive Plan reviewing development applications (platting & site plans), zoning change applications, use permit applications, to ensure development standards are met and are compatible land uses under current zoning according to the comprehensive plan.

The Development Services Director is the staff liaison to the Zoning Board of Adjustment, who considers zoning variance requests and the Planning and Zoning Commission, who consider zoning amendments, plats, use permits and site plans as well as zoning and subdivision ordinance amendments.

In order to effectively develop property or build or remodel a non-residential structure, it is recommended to schedule a pre-application meeting with the Development Services Department. Please contact:
