Masonry Foundation Retaining Wall Prescriptive Methods

If you are constructing a masonry retaining wall foundation system, which will support a building or a retaining wall over 4 feet in height, the walls must be designed by a design professional or the construction must comply with the R404.1.1 Design of Masonry Foundation Walls Prescriptive Methods found in the International Residential Code.  The documents below will assist in the designing prescriptive masonry walls. Plans and specifications drawn to and referring to these documents will not need a design professional. All other plans for masonry retaining foundation walls will need professional design.
